Strengthening Dairy Sector Ties

Margaret Kibogy, alongside the KDB management, had the honor of hosting a high-level meeting with, Honorable Minister Dr.Idi Mukhtar Maiha the Minister from Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. This pivotal engagement focused on exploring avenues for collaboration and trade within the dairy sector, covering critical areas such as cooperatives, breeding, production, value addition, quality, and safety.
During the meeting, the Minister acknowledged that Kenya is currently the highest milk producer in Africa, highlighting the country's advanced dairy industry. Nigeria, as a member state of the African Free Trade Area, with its population of approximately 200 million and the fact that it imports 99% of its dairy products, presents an immense market opportunity for Kenya to export its high-quality dairy products.
This meeting marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at boosting both nations' dairy industries and fostering economic growth.
